2008年新世代ThinkPad的第一道曙光！

對岸友站「專門網(51nb.com)」在2007年最後一天送上了一份跨年大禮給ThinkPad愛用者們，友站刊出的「新一代ThinkPad曝光？」專文首度揭露了傳聞已久的13.3吋寬螢幕ThinkPad的神祕面紗。在此感謝專門網站長HOPE授權本站引用該文的圖片。站長僅節錄其中三張機體的照片，完整圖片請參閱友站專文。

圖片中的新世代ThinkPad研發代號為「Kodachi」（源自日文「小太刀」，日本傳統兵器），裝配13.3吋寬螢幕LED背光面板，並內建 光碟機，算是繼T-Series之後，ThinkPad終於有一款輕薄的2-Spindle機種了。下圖是Kodachi的機體後視圖，站長非常驚訝 Kodachi不採用T60/X60的「電池後置」設計，T60/X60機體後面就是電池槽，所以並沒有太多的空間可放置連接埠。反觀Kodachi機體 後面依序由左而右分別是：AC電源接頭(20V)、外接螢幕接頭(D-sub)、RJ45(Ethernet)、無線網路硬體開關、USB 2.0接頭、CPU排風口。

Kodachi的後端佈局讓站長回想起了2000年發表的ThinkPad X20，下圖是X20的機體後視圖，是否頗有相似之處?只是歷經八年之後，RJ11(Modem)終於從新世代的Kodachi上退役了，同時拜LED背 光面板以及7mm超薄光碟機之賜，Kodachi即使內建光碟機，主機厚度仍比X20更薄。

Kodachi可說是日本Yamato Lab納入聯想麾下之後全力開發的全新機種，一方面融合了T60所獨有的Roll cage架構，另一方面則採用了LED背光面板、SSD固態硬碟以及7mm超薄光碟機，實現了多年來使用者引頸盼望的「低於2公斤」、「內建光碟機」的輕 薄ThinkPad夢想。Kodachi的LCD背蓋左下方新增Lenovo商標，右下方則改用新式ThinkPad標籤取代傳統的IBM ThinkPad標籤。

關於Kodachi的內部規格尚未明朗，站長猜測會採用Intel GM965晶片組，同時從下圖的CPU排風口研判，可能會搭載低電壓版Merom處理器(45奈米製程的Penryn處理器在2008Q3才會上市)，故 僅需鋁製散熱片。雖然台灣一直沒有引進內建WWAN(3G上網)功能的ThinkPad，但國外可能會推出內建802.11n(MIMO)+HSDPA (3.5G WWAN)以及UWB(UltraWide Band)以及藍牙功能的超完整無線配備機種，只要能克服電池續航力，相信Kodachi可取代T-Series成為商務人士的新世代移動辦公室利器。 2008年適逢ThinkPad 600十週年誕生，Kodachi即將以13.3吋寬螢幕姿態問世，此外次世代X-Series傳聞也在開發中，相信2008年對於ThinkPad愛用 者而言會是非常值得期待的一年！在此預祝大家新年愉快！

• The new thinkpad's code name: Kodachi meaning katana in japanese.
• It's 13.3in with led back light, It can be considered as the next generation T-series.
• This new gen was inspired by the Thinkpad x20. The kodachi compared to the x20 is thinner with led
• Kodachi has the roll cage, led backlight, ssd and the new 7mm super thin dvd drive. It weighs under 2kg. At the bottom left corner is the Lenovo sticker. The right corner will be the new lenovo sticker.
• The specific specs for Kodachi is not out yet, but it will use the intel gm965 mobo.
• There is a possibility it will use the penryn processor, but the penryn processor will be out 2008 Q3.
• The Kodachi will have the 802.11n(MIMO)+HSDPA (3.5G WWAN) and ultrawide band and bluetooth.
• Currently they are working on the battery power stuff, it will take over the T-series eventually.
